Steve's passion for wine began as a child in France, where weekends spent exploring vineyards with his father sparked a lifelong fascination with the craft. Years later, after a distinguished career in entertainment, he pursued formal studies in oenology at UC Davis and culinary arts at the Culinary Institute of America, deepening his understanding of the relationship between food, wine, and the shared experiences they inspire. Alongside his wife Jen, he built PROMISE, a boutique winery born from a shared vow to live with intention and create something meaningful. Today, Steve oversees every aspect of production, from vineyard selection to final blending, crafting limited-production wines that reflect his belief that true luxury lies in authenticity, care, and the joy of sharing exceptional moments. His meticulous attention to detail extends beyond the cellar to every corner of PROMISE Ranch, from the heritage hogs raised for the in-house prosciutto program to the flourishing beehives that produce the ranch’s own honey, and every thoughtful touch in between.
